During the last month I’ve been playing two games of Necromunda. One with the Gang War I rules and another with the Zone Mortalis rule set. I think the new rules are wonderful. Everything I’ve been thinking about that needed fixing is fixed. Especially the “I go – you go” turn sequence. Good to get rid of that 18 years into the new millenia. To move one fighter at a time were actually one of the house rules we made before the new edition. What I also like is the chain activation making leaders use their leadership to more than just morale. There are so many things I like with the new rule set but just to mention some of them: Ammo aren’t gone forever when failing an ammo test. The game is somewhat streamlined and quicker. Finally the campaign system is not so complex anymore making it more available for people like me which can’t play a game every other night.
Another good thing that has nothing to do with the rules is the feel of the game. I think GW was successful in keeping the good part of the 80ies punk feel but leaving the blood red era behind.
Here’s some pics from this amazing revived game!
I played some games of necromunda tonight. One of the scenario, a new one, some kind of object domination. Unlike the scavengers scenario the objectives are stationary and you can’t hide or be pinned while controlling them. There were some other differences as well. Over all a balanced and fun scenario. I took some photos of the game but it’s quite hard to see what happens. Still it’s possible to see the effect of the tiles in two levels. Happy gaming!
Yesterday I went to the DIY store to buy some stuff for a some kind of frame to put another level of terrain tiles upon. After an hours work I were quite satisfied. Luckily some friends came by to play a game. Here are some pictures of both the level up thing and from the battle.
I’ve installed myself in my new apartment now. That’s also the cause of the long abscense from the blog. Well, I’ve got my stuff organized now and started off with a game of necromunda. We played a homemade ambush on truck scenario which was very amusing. Here’s some pictures from the battle.
Came up with a escort scenario for necromunda some days ago which we tried immediately. Basically it’s an ambush mission with the ambushers divided into scouts, front force and rear force. The escorters will tries to make it across the table with their precious goods. We didn’t have any appropriate vehicles but I found the gorkamorka Trukk. One of the really fun parts was the lights going on and off totally random. It made the scenario more living. Here’s some pics from the fight.
I played against spacejens Goliaths tonight. I had the option to choose scenario and took zombie scavengers. Not too many undead walkers today though. The fight went quite uneaven with my infiltrators messing up the Goliaths from long range. After three Goliaths down they bottled even with a reroll. I’ll soon have enough credits for a missile heavy!
Painted the dogs this morning and tried them in action at once. They did farely well scaring and harassing the Goliaths.
Took some more pictures today when the Goliaths and Scavvys met again. These are totally pose pictures ala ’90 though.
Played some necromunda today against Goliath and Chaos. Feels like a revival to me after a year without a single game. Nothing compared to my fellow Goliath player who played his last real game 1996… It was a lot of fun still and it felt nice to use the terrain again. Stupid to not use the most well done project I’ve ever made.
Today I’ve played the scenario a few times, pretty balanced but I’ll make some more changes. And… The secret model is revealed: A zombie walker!
